Formerly known as "Wat Chaeng", this temple has existed since the Ayutthaya period. When the King of Thonburi relocated the kingdom from Ayutthaya to Thonburi City, he determined the temple to be in the royal vicinity, housing the Emerald Buddha. Vastly regarded in King Rama II's reign, it is regarded as King Rama II's temple. The interest landmark is teh gigantic stupa (Pagoda) or "Phra Prang". |
