The Train
The same spirit of excellence as in Europe and other continents is experienced on the Eastern & Oriental Express. The train’s stainless steel bodied carriages were originally built in 1971 by Japanese manufacturers for the New Zealand Railways, where it operated as the “Silver Star Train”. In 1991, the carriages were brought to the Eastern & Oriental Express workshops in Singapore where the rolling stock was totally transformed, the interior remodelled and rebuilt.

The Compartment
Each of the three grades of compartments is fully air-conditioned, with an en-suite shower and impressive picture windows to ensure you do not miss a second of the magical world unfurling outside. While you dine at night, your discreet and friendly steward transforms your compartment from a living room to a bedroom.
